Whether you want jerk chicken, pasta, or even lobster rolls, you’ll find something for every craving with over 1,000 food trucks in Austin. If you want to check out this popular part of Austin’s food scene, then visit some of these options near our Zilker apartments:
Chef Nahika has gone from a scientist and educator to a Haitian culinarian. Her mother was a talented cook who always invited family and friends over to share a meal. After moving to Austin, Nahika decided to carry on the tradition. She started Kreyol Korner after noticing a lack of island food. As the first Haitian food truck in Texas, she quickly gained loyal customers. Offerings include jerk chicken wings, fried pork shoulder, and stewed red snapper.
Patrizi’s opened as a brick and mortar restaurant in the late 1940s. Today it exists as a food truck where the chefs make handmade pasta and from-scratch sauce. They use thoughtfully sourced ingredients that reflect the traditional flavors the Patrizi family has cultivated for decades. The truck is one of the city’s most popular and known for its friendly service. Pasta offerings include Cacio e Pepe, The Great Leopold, and Carbonara Alexandra.
Garbo’s Lobster Truck
Heidi grew up around the lobster industry when her dad and uncle started Garbo Lobster Enterprise. When she opened her first truck in Key West, she gained recognition and fame. After relocating to Austin, she decided to open Garbo’s Lobster Truck. It serves Northeastern-style rolls drenched in butter or mayo and lemon. They can be enjoyed with jalapeno coleslaw or Cape Cod potato chips.
