On the weekend, there’s nothing better than meeting friends and family for a delicious brunch. If this sounds good to you, then you can find the best brunch in Austin at the following restaurants:
The Magnolia Cafe opened in 1979 as the Omelettry West. When the doors closed every day at 3:00 p.m., the staff would often stay late into the night making music videos and homemade films. The restaurant began staying open later in the late 1980s, and when one of the managers lost the keys, it became a 24/7 destination. Its motto is “Everybody Knows, Everybody Goes,” and the friendly staff enjoys chatting with their longstanding customers about the good old days. Brunch offerings include huevos rancheros, gingerbread pancakes, and salmon lox and eggs.
Chadwick and Rachelle signed the lease for The Cavalier at the same time they found out they were expecting their first baby two months after the restaurant would open. Their friends lovingly told them they were crazy. Today, the couple enjoys serving their neighbors and watching their young daughter grow up around good people. The chefs prepare old-fashioned Southern cooking with classic Austin vibes and only use the finest, freshest ingredients. Brunch dishes include chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, and egg sandwiches.
Cafe Josie has been a local favorite since 1997. Found inside an old carriage house, it comes complete with beautiful brick floors and antique French doors. Owner Cody Taylor started working in the restaurant industry bussing tables when he was 13. Now, he enjoys greeting guests and creating a memorable dining experience. Brunch offerings include buttermilk pancakes, Korean fried chicken, and breakfast tater tot casserole.
