If you are looking for a destination that offers plenty of fun late into the night, head to Sixth Street.
It’s the most storied entertainment district in the city and comes complete with bars, restaurants, art galleries, and more.
The Jackalope is Austin’s favorite and most famous dive bar. It is a staple during the district’s festivities and features a giant stuffed jackalope and abstract films on the televisions. According to the Food Network, the chefs serve the “Best Burgers Ever,” and choices include mac & cheese, honey-jalapeno, and chipotle bacon. They can be enjoyed with a side of sweet potato tots and a signature cocktail such as El Diablo.
For more than forty years, Clayworks Studio has practiced the art and craft of architectural ceramics. Everything is made and fired on-site, and the process begins with mixing the clay and glaze from scratch. Some of the artisans’ work can be seen at the Texas State Capitol Building and the Driskill Hotel, and they have years of experience. The selection includes Texas-shaped trivets, wall sconces, and decorative clay tiles.
Hops & Grain
Hops & Grain enjoys partnering with other local businesses to bring attention to what makes central Texas great. The brewmasters follow environmentally-friendly practices, and they churn spent grain into dog biscuits. It boasts a 4.5-star rating on Yelp, and the industrial-style taproom is where friends can enjoy the latest brews while playing board games. Beers include River, Lupulin Rodeo, and Haze Country.
Free 45-minute tours are offered on Friday and Saturdays, and the Food Monger Fresh & Freestyle food truck is on-site Wednesday through Sunday.
